If someone asks me about my favorite serie, probably would come to
my mind many answers: Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Orange is the new black,
etc. But all these series are well recognized, so I’m going to take this space
to comment one of my favorite series, because I think It’s very undervalued.
The Handmaid's Tale is an American television
serie created by Bruce Miller, based on the 1985 novel of the same name by the
canadian writer Margaret Atwood. The idea of the serie is that in the near
future, fertility rates collapse as a result of sexually transmitted diseases
and environmental pollution. With this chaos in place, the totalitarian,
Christian theonomic government of "Gilead" establishes rule in the
former United States in the aftermath of a civil war.
Last year, my boyfriend recommended me the serie,
because someone had talked to him about it. We started to see it, and I just
loved it!
I really like the story, the aesthetics of the
serie, the actors, everything. The story seems very interesting for me, because
the topic is very realistic: women fighting for the sovereignty of her bodies
V/S one State seeks to control her bodies. I don’t know about you, but it sounds
very familiar to me…
